Instead of raised 2-year topics, I thought I'd start a new one...

Does anyone still play this game? And if so, what's everyone up to?

I just started playing a couple of weeks ago and I'm well on the way with a castle+city...

I have it on Xbox where I potter around a bit but got upset when my lava walls broke (my fault) and burnt my garden down.

If you are going to play MC then you NEED to be using Technic (SP) or Tekkit (SMP). If you are using neither then you should be ashamed and throw yourself from the nearest Tree.

Edit: I have actually been debating hosting a Tekkit MC Server for a couple of months, depends on the demand.

I still play on a friend's server, but tbh it's pretty quiet these days. I can't install tekkit on my work PC too, so that limits my play time during lunch breaks

From what I can figure out, those are mod-packs that mainly add a tonne of new recipes and contraptions with some nice texture packs... I'm predominantly in to creative mode at the moment, just building a big city, having to actually MINE for materials annoys me, but I like building things!

...erm, you do realise you can still use Creative Mode with mods right?

On DL's MC Tekkit Server i built a small town, complete with Electric lighting in the houses and Street Lights. Sadly i forgot to Zombie proof it.

Yes of course you can use mods on creative, but what I meant was that I'm quite content with the block I've got right now... It'll probably change soon enough...

Can you install mods on an existing world? If not it's wasted on me, I've spent days working on this city now!

I answered my own question and tried Technic out on my single player map, it screwed absolutely everything... Lucky I took a backup first! I instead installed some texture packs which have made my city look much nicer!
