Neverwinter MMORPG

Bumped into this (I'm ages behind, I know) Neverwinter MMORPG. As I loved NWN to bits I must admit I'm intrigued... but then again I'm afraid it'll be a WoW spin off. And I'm fed up with WoW concepted games. Anyone got access to the beta?

Played it a bit in the first beta weekend, and it's an interesting game. It's not a WoW spinoff, but based on the 4th edition PnP D&D, and (as the name suggests) set in the same realm as for example the Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights series. And you get to make your own dungeons.

Just a reminder: game softlaunches (aka open beta with no more characterwipes) on April the 30th. I shall be checking it out further (played a beta weekend that made me feel mildly optimistic).
I tend towards playing a Guardian Fighter (tank), but I'm also really intrigued by the Cleric and the Great Weapon Fighter.

I still nose around on DDO because I'm such a massive nerd, so I'll be trying it out.

Open beta starts at 18:00 WST (Wurst Standard Time), sadly I won't be able to play today or tomorrow. So if any of you guys want to get a bit organized for this, pick a server and I'll see that I pick the same.

Guess the NDA is gone by now, so I can tell a bit more.

It's an interesting game, with some lore from D&D in it. Gameplay is just a regular hack & slash though. They added a tiny bit of customization to your character progression at some point during closed beta, but it's no where near what you can do in the pen & paper versions of D&D. It's also nowhere near finished, and could imo use at least 2 more years of development.

Others might like it though. But it's free, at least in the lower levels.
